The National Innovation Foundation (NIF) – India, an autonomous institute of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, spearheads the nation’s efforts to bolster grassroots technological innovations and outstanding traditional knowledge. Its mission is to cultivate a creative and knowledge-driven India by expanding opportunities for grassroots innovators. NIF identifies, incubates and nurtures technological innovations developed by individuals and communities. It ensures recognition, respect, and rewards for these innovators and knowledge holders, promoting the widespread adoption of their solutions through commercial and non-commercial avenues, thereby creating incentives for all involved. 

NIF’s database encompasses over 345,000 technological ideas, innovations, and traditional practices from over 625 Indian districts. It has recognized 1145 innovators and students at national-level award functions. Collaborating with R&D and academic institutions, NIF has facilitated the validation and value addition of over 2000 grassroots technologies. NIF has established a Fabrication Laboratory for product development and internal research in addition to setting up 71 community fabrication workshops in 24 states of the country. It has filed over 1416 patent applications (including international filings) and secured 718 patents and 20 design registrations for grassroots and student innovations. Additionally, 7 out of 11 trademark applications have been granted. NIF has also filed 95 plant variety applications at the Protection of Plant Varieties & Farmers’ Rights Authority, with 43 successfully registered.  

NIF has successfully commercialized products across six continents and facilitated over 120 technology licensing agreements. NIF also actively promotes the widespread adoption of grassroots innovations through various social channels, ensuring their benefits reach communities and contribute to societal progress. The NIF also coordinates the INSPIRE-MANAK scheme to engage school students nationwide in contributing their original technological ideas, aligning with the “Start-up India” initiative. NIF demonstrates the ingenuity of Indian innovators in creatively solving problems using local resources sustainably. Its “grassroots to Global” (g2G) model aims to reshape global perspectives on grassroots creativity and innovation.

The emergence of National Capital Region (NCR) as the most favoured destination for Investments and growing needs of both the existing and upcoming business led to the inception of NCR Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI). This New Generation Chamber has literally marked the commencement of a historical process reflecting an age of great Change, a logical and sequential development of the coming together of forward looking Industries. The NCCI, located in Gurgaon, is a story of an institution dedicated to serve the interest of Commerce, Industry and Profession in particular and the economic development of the Country in general. The growth of the City in the last four years is synonymous with the growth of Chamber. NCCI has cultivated a flair for service orientation which made it a matter of substance for Business Enterprises to seek membership and the benefit from such services that they derive.
