Dr. Shubhada M. Rao is the founder of QuantEco Research, an independent economic advisory firm. In a short span, QuantEco Research has built a client portfolio with representation from private banks, insurance companies, rating agencies, small finance banks, AMCs, PE Funds, factoring firms, foreign port folio investors, Non-financial corporates and Multi-lateral global institutions.

She brings with her 35 years of experience in academia and industry. A gold medalist and a PhD in Economics from University of Mumbai, she has worked as Economist/Chief Economist with marquee financial sector entities like ICICI, Times Bank, CRISIL, Bank of Baroda & Kotak Institutional Equities. She has made extensive presentations on India economy to institutions like Federal Reserve, Bank of England, Bank of Canada, G20-IIF meetings, Ministers and delegations/ Secretaries of State of the UK,US, Australia, Japan among others. Prior to setting up QuantEco, she served as a Senior Group President & Chief Economist at YES Bank. Under her leadership, the Economics team at YES Bank was often ranked among Top 3 forecasters of Indian economic indicators by Bloomberg and was cited as top forecaster for currency by Reuters.

Shubhada played an active role in industry associations. Some of her past industry association positions were: Chairperson-Economics Committee, BCCI; Co-Chair Economics Committee at ASSOCHAM; Member-CII National Economic Policy Council & Member -Monetary Policy Group-IBA. She represented India for US State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program in 2004

In her career, Shubhada led a pioneering comprehensive study of the major drivers of liquidity in the financial markets. This project was completed under the guidance of the Internal Debt Management Cell of the RBI.

She currently holds Board positions in three Indian companies.
