Mr. Amit Kalyani serves as the Joint Managing Director at Bharat Forge Limited, a prominent entity within the Pune-based Kalyani Group. This conglomerate operates across various sectors including specialty steel, hi-tech metallurgical manufacturing, automotive components, defense systems, infrastructure, and specialty chemicals. Bharat Forge Ltd, under Mr. Kalyani’s leadership, stands as India’s largest export-oriented auto component company, boasting global revenues of US$ 2 billion. With a transcontinental presence spanning Europe, North America, and India, the company caters to esteemed clients in automotive, oil and gas, aerospace, defense, construction, and mining industries worldwide.Having joined Bharat Forge in 1999, Mr. Kalyani’s career trajectory has seen him transition from manufacturing to IT, Finance, and Strategy. His pivotal role encompasses driving the Group’s strategic direction and spearheading diversification efforts over the past decade.
Mr. Kalyani is instrumental in finance, M&A functions, talent development, and growth strategy formulation in new products and sectors. He is currently responsible in overseeing domestic and international business of the Company, driving ESG initiatives, achieving carbon neutrality across various geographies in which Company operates, managing human capital, overseeing enterprise functions, and driving growth strategy. Additionally, he holds board memberships in various group companies such as Bharat Forge Limited, BF Utilities Ltd and Kalyani Steels Ltd. He also serves as an independent director on the Board of Schaeffler India. Mr. Kalyani’s contributions extend beyond corporate realms; he actively engages in government committees focusing on manufacturing, education, skill development, and bilateral relations.
Presently, Mr. Kalyani chairs the CII Smart Manufacturing Council, FICCI Committee on HR & Skills and participates in the World Economic Forum Digital Manufacturing and Automotive Governors forums. His academic background includes a BE degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bucknell University, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. He is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s OPM program and a member of YPO.
