The company set up its operations in 2011, in Maharashtra, focussing on specialty products. In 2018, Yara India acquired Tata Chemicals 1.20 million MT urea facility in Babrala, making it India’s first and highest stand-alone foreign direct investment in the fertiliser sector. The company has established a strong footprint, forging deep relationships with Indian farming community through its farmer centric approach enhancing productivity with new generation crop nutrition offerings.
Yara works closely with farmers to promote the use of balanced crop nutrition solutions through Yara branded retail outlets called Yara Crop Nutrition Centre (YCNC) and the FPO initiative resulting in enhanced yield and quality of output. The YCNCs have benefited over 1.2 million farmers across 1500 outlets in 17 states and 1 Union territory of India. Yara India digitally connects with 5.5 million farmers across India and provide service to 218 FPOs touching over 150 thousand farmers. In 2019, Yara India Technology Centre (Yara ITC) was established to address Yara’s technology demands and drive agile transformation. Being one of three Global Digital Hubs, Yara ITC plays a pivotal role in developing digital solutions.
GMR Airports Limited (GAL) ltd Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) is a consortium, comprising of GAL and the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The consortium has the mandate to finance, design, build, operate and maintain India’s biggest and busiest Delhi Airport for a period of 30 years with an option to extend it by another 30 years.
The consortium has truly proven to be a shining example of Public Private Partnership (PPP). The Airport has been adjudged as the Best Airport by Size and Region (over 40 MPPA in Asia Pacific) by Airports Council International (ACI) in the Airport Service Quality Program for six consecutive years in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. It has also won the prestigious SKYTRAX Best Airport Award for five consecutive years in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
With emphasis on Environment Sustainability, DIAL is a pioneer using green sustainable technologies and has won numerous awards and recognitions for its various initiatives. In August 2024, Delhi Airport became the first airport (over 40 MPPA category) in the world to receive the NET ZERO CARBON EMISSION AIRPORT status, when it received the Level 5 Certification under Airport ACI’s Airport Carbon Accreditation program.
The accreditation was bestowed upon Delhi Airport for its proactive initiatives towards environment management and sustainability. These include use of renewable energy (both onsite and offsite), development of green airport Infrastructures, energy conservation & efficiency improvements and stakeholder partnership programs etc.
Through the vast but passenger-friendly three terminals – T1, T2, T3 — of Delhi Airport, DIAL handles over 73 million passengers per annum (MPPA). Delhi Airport has recently scaled its capacity to handle 100 million passengers per annum, and is among the world’s few airports which have such a huge capacity. Delhi Airport is India’s only airport with four operational runways and first to have an elevated dual taxiways (ECT). The Elevated Dual Taxiways cut CO2 emissions by 55k tonnes annually, while reducing taxiing time. The 2.1 km structure can handle upto two A-380-size aircraft simultaneously.
DIAL, through its social responsibility organ–GMR Varalakshmi Foundation—was the first to realize the potential and importance of Skill Development in the nation’s economy. It develops innovative and locale-specific initiatives which span the areas of Education; Health, Hygiene and Sanitation; Empowerment and Livelihoods; and Community development programmes.
