Adolfo Garcia Estrada
Consul General of Mexico in Mumbai
Mr. García Estrada is a career diplomat who joined the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Mexico in January 2000. He has the rank of Counsellor in the Mexican Foreign Service, and has a broad experience in consular and bilateral affairs in Europe, Asia and the United States.
He started his career in the Direction-General for the United Nations, joining shortly after the Latin American Division in 2001. As a member of the Mexican Foreign Service, he first served as Political Attaché at the Embassy of Mexico in Finland (2003-2006) and Deputy Chief of Mission and Chief of Political Affairs at the Embassy of Mexico in Ireland (2006- 2010).
At the Ministry’s Headquarters in Mexico City he was subsequently posted at the Direction-General for North America (2010-2011) and as Advisor to the Vice-Minister for North American Affairs (2011-2013). He started a second tour abroad in 2013 as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Mexico in Bangkok (2013-2017) and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Mexico in Kuala Lumpur (2017-2019). In both positions he worked in advancing the bilateral relations with Thailand and Malaysia, including the relationship of Mexico with ASEAN and other nations in the Pacific.
Between August 2019 and January 2023, he was Deputy Consul General at the Consulate General of Mexico in Houston, Texas, USA, the third largest Mexican mission abroad, providing consular assistance and services to close to one million Mexicans that reside in the consular district of East Texas. From January 2023, he is the first Head Consul of Mexico in Mumbai
