Mr. Anup Bagchi is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Company. Prior to this, he was the Non-executive Director on the Board of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance since October 2018.

Anup joined the ICICI Group in 1992 and, since then, has worked across various Group companies. Anup was the Executive Director of ICICI Bank, where he was responsible for Wholesale Banking, Transaction Banking, Markets Group and Proprietary Trading Group. He has worked extensively in the areas of Retail Banking, Treasury, Investment Banking, Small Scale Industry, Payment & Settlement systems. He has been recognised at various fora for growing ICICI Bank’s retail business through digital transformation.

Anup also held the position of MD & CEO of ICICI Securities Ltd. Under his leadership, the Company launched ICICI Direct, which revolutionised the Indian retail broking industry by shifting the balance of power in favour of retail investors. Besides, he was also responsible for the development and growth of Retail Broking, Distribution of Retail Financial Products and Wealth Management businesses.

Anup has represented the ICICI Group in various regulatory committees set up by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and The Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI). He was a member of the RBI’s Expert Committee on ‘Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises’. He was also a member of several committees set up by SEBI, such as the Committee on ‘Financial and Regulatory Technologies’ (CFRT), the Secondary Markets Advisory Committee (SMAC), the Fair Market Conduct Committee and the Risk Management Review Committee.

He was part of the Executive Committee set up by the National Securities Depository Ltd. (NSDL), the Advisory Committee of The BSE Ltd. and was the Co-Chairman of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s (FICCI) Capital Markets Committee.

Anup has a Management degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and an Engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
