Dr. Ganesh Das is working with Tata Power Company Limited, the largest vertical integrated Power Company of India and a flagship company of the Tata Group as Chief – Collaboration and Innovation. He is a seasoned professional with over 37 years of experience in the Energy Sector. Since 2005, he has held various leadership roles in TPDDL, including Chief Strategy, Performance Management, Innovation and R&D. Dr. Das holds a PhD from IIT Delhi, specializing in Strategy, Marketing, and Consumer Behavior. He is also a Visiting Scholar at MIT, an Honorary Fellow at Toronto Metropolitan University and an Honorary Professor at Warwick Manufacturing Group, University of Warwick. He has been actively working in the space of technology, research and innovation strategy, driving transformational change with an emphasis on circularity and sustainability. His key focus areas include Alternate Sustainable Materials, New Process Design, AI/ML Applications, Technologies for Decarbonization, Improvement in Operational Efficiency, etc. Through a structured framework, he has fostered strategic collaborations with global partners, which includes startups, academic institutions, government bodies, funding agencies, and technology partners. His notable contributions include establishing India’s first 10 MW utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), leading smart meter installations, and developing the DSIR-recognized Smart Grid Lab. He was also the founding CEO of the Clean Energy International Incubation Centre (CEIIC), supporting ventures, innovators and developing a start-up pipeline in the clean energy technology space. Dr. Das is an international expert in the energy sector, contributing to various international and national committees. He is also involved in policy advocacy with multiple stakeholders such as various international agencies, governments, and ministries. He has presented numerous papers and participated in various panel discussions in international conferences. He has also co-authored the book ‘Aesthetics in Marketing’ published by Sage Publications and a case study on the “Integrated Innovation Strategy and Framework of Tata Power”, published in INside INnovation by MQIPress.
