Ms. R. Vimala

IAS Resident Commissioner, Delhi & Secretary, Government of Maharashtra

Ms. R. Vimala has over 30 years of administrative experience across key government departments in Maharashtra. She has served as Collector of Nagpur and CEO of the Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission, where she mobilized over 50 lakh families through self-help groups, benefiting 18 lakh households and promoting sustainable agriculture among 14 lakh women farmers.

Her work spans major social welfare schemes including NRLM, MGNREGA, Jal Jeevan Mission, and DDUGKY. She has represented India in the USA, Japan, Germany, Mauritius, and South Korea on women empowerment and skill development missions.

Currently pursuing a PhD on the socio-economic transformation of deserted women, she focuses on social entrepreneurship for women’s empowerment. A Hindi poet, blogger, TEDx speaker, and YouTuber, she received the prestigious Arun Bongirwar Public Service Excellence Award.

As CEO of the Khadi and Village Industries Board, she promotes chemical-free honey, Khadi, and supports village industries. She also facilitates PMEGP, CMEGP, and the Vishwakarma Yojana. As former State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, she worked toward universal quality education.
