Vishal Gupta is the CEO of PhonePe Insurance Broking Services. At PhonePe, he has been part of the founding team & played multiple leadership roles across product, design, risk, customer-experience to build & scale the payments and merchants business. In the last 2 years, he has been focussing on building financial services across Wealth, Credit and Insurance.

Prior to PhonePe, Vishal was a part of core leadership at Flipkart where he held multiple leadership roles across tech and product. Before the Flipkart group, Vishal spent 5 years in PineLabs as VP-Technology and has played an instrumental role in building the payments POS business at the company. He began his career as a technologist and worked with companies like America Online and Schlumberger. With 23+ years of overall experience and 16+ years in the startups above, he began his career as a technologist and worked with companies like America Online and Schlumberger.

He attributes his multidimensional leadership to wide exposure across functions (technology, busi-ness, operations alike) and having worked in various industries at scale (consumer tech, payments, merchants, e-commerce, supply chain, social & telecom). His strength lies in thinking long term and taking an ecosystem view towards building great products and businesses.

Vishal holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Pune and is also an alumnus of IIM Bangalore’s Executive General Management Programme.
