Shailesh Tyagi

A seasoned leader with a global perspective, Shailesh Tyagi brings over two and a half decades of expertise in climate change and sustainability consulting. As the service line leader for Climate Change & Sustainability at Deloitte South Asia, Shailesh has more than a decade of experience being instrumental in establishing successful advisory services for the Big 4, including the biggest pure-play sustainability consulting firm in Australia, New Zealand, and India.

He also played a key role in supporting Deloitte practices across Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore. Shailesh is an expert in fugitive emissions in the Energy and Resources sectors and tech-enabled Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) solutions. He specializes in making a business case for sustainability, focusing on value creation through the lenses of natural, human, social, and financial capital, as well as impact measurement.

Shailesh has worked extensively in the forestry and agriculture sectors under the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and the Australian Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF)—a combined emissions offsetsscheme and Government purchasing initiative for emission reductions. He served on the TCFD (Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures) scenario analysis panel, led the development of fugitive emissions guidance in the mining and metals industry in Australia, and more recently, spearheaded the development of India’s first assurance standard for sustainability.

An Indian Australian, he calls Sydney home, is a UNSW Sydney alumnus, lifts weights and practicestaekwondo regularly, and is a dedicated family man.
