
Anita Woolley

Anita Williams Woolley is a Professor of Organizational Behavior at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business and the PI of the CI-Lab@CMU. Dr. Woolley received her doctorate in organizational behavior from Harvard University, and her research includes seminal work on collective intelligence in teams, first published in Science in 2010 and since discussed and cited in thousands of research publications and news outlets. Woolley’s current projects focus on collective intelligence in teams and human-computer collaboration, including the use of AI to enhance CI with current projects funded by DARPA and the National Science Foundation building on past projects sponsored by the Army Research Office, the Office of Naval Research, the Air Force Research Lab, as well as corporate partners. Professor Woolley served as Associate Dean of Research for the Tepper School from 2022-2024 and as Chair of the CMU Institutional Review Board from 2019-2022. She is a Senior Editor at Organization Science and a founding Associate Editor of the ACM journal Collective Intelligence as well as an affiliated faculty member of the MIT Center for Collective Intelligence.
