Mr. Arun Misra – CEO & Whole Time Director Hindustan Zinc, has been leading the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and amongst the top 5 silver producers globally, since August 1, 2020. With effect from 1st August 2023, Mr Misra has also been appointed as Executive Director at Vedanta Limited. 

 Mr. Misra was appointed Deputy CEO, Hindustan Zinc Limited on November 20, 2019, and in less than 10 months, he was moved to the Corner Office and placed at the helm of the world’s largest integrated zinc producer as CEO and Whole time director. 

Mr. Misra has previously served as the Chairman of CII Rajasthan state council. He was also elected as the 1st ever Indian origin Chairperson of the International Zinc Association. Along with that, he is also the Vice President of the Indian Institute of Mineral Engineers. Mr. Misra has to his credit published several papers in nationally reputed journals. 

Mr. Misra was awarded ‘CEO of the Year’ and Hindustan Zinc the ‘Most Innovative Company of the Year’ in the Business Leader of the Year awards. He is also recognized in the 22nd position of the Top 30 CEOs of India list by StartupLanes. Further, the company under his able leadership has been ranked globally number 1 for sustainability by S&P Global Corporate Responsibility Assessment, consequently for 2023 and 2024, amongst Metal & Mining companies. 

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from IIT, Kharagpur, Mr. Misra took a Diploma in Mining and Beneficiation from the University of New South Wales Sydney, and another Diploma in General Management from CEDEP, France. He possesses knowledge of TQM, Six Sigma, TPM, and the Malcolm Baldridge Model. 

Mr. Misra started his career with Tata Steel as Maintenance Head (Electrical), West Bokaro Coal Washery in July 1988. He brings with him a formidable 33 years of rich and diverse experience in Tata Steel, where he headed various strategic positions and portfolios like Plant Operations, Mining Operations, and Safety & Project Management. In his last assignment at Tata Steel, Mr. Misra worked as Vice President — Raw Materials Division.
