Overview
India’s Global Capability Centers (GCCs) play a crucial role in driving the country’s economic progress and fostering innovation. These centers, also known as global in-house centers or captives, are set up by multinational companies to take advantage of India’s skilled workforce, cost-efficiency, and business-friendly environment. GCCs handle a wide range of functions, including IT services, business process outsourcing, research and development, analytics, and finance, seamlessly integrating into India’s economy. The growth of the GCC industry in India has been truly extraordinary, with over 1,500 GCCs operational by 2022 and employing around 1.3 million professionals.

These centers are key contributors to India’s economy and have greatly contributed to the country’s export success. The growth of these centers shows how attractive India is for international companies looking to set up Global Capability Centers (GCCs), thanks to its strong education system producing talented graduates in various fields. Additionally, India’s supportive government policies, regulatory environment, advanced IT infrastructure, and cost advantages compared to other countries make it a top choice for setting up GCCs. As the GCC industry advances, there is a clear trend towards using new technologies such as Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics are being incorporated strategically to improve efficiency and boost business growth in the GCCs. This will help India’s economy and global competitiveness in the future. Moreover, talent development programs and collaborations with educational institutions will prepare a skilled workforce to drive digital transformation and sustain growth in the sector.
