Anil Kumar SG is the Founder of Samunnati, India’s leading agri-enterprise, pioneering an integrated value-chain approach to unlock the full potential of Indian agriculture. At the heart of Samunnati’s mission is a deep belief in making markets work for smallholder farmers. With this as the core focus, under Anil’s leadership, the organisation has evolved into an open agri-network that connects Farmer Collectives and Agri Enterprises across the country through a unique blend of finance, market linkage, advisory, and climate-smart solutions.  

Anil brings nearly three decades of experience across banking, rural finance, and agri value chains, blending deep sectoral expertise with entrepreneurial execution. His approach focuses on ecosystem-wide enablement, creating shared value for all stakeholders through collaboration, technology, and contextual innovation. He works closely with national policy bodies, agriculture and startup ecosystems, and sectoral alliances to shape the agenda for sustainable, market-led development in agriculture.  

He serves as the Chair of FICCI’s Taskforce on Agri Finance and is actively engaged with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. He also contributes to several national and sectoral advisory bodies, including the CII National Council for Agriculture, TiE Chennai Governing Council, Social Stock Exchange Advisory Committee, IMI-K Neev Innovation Foundation Advisory Council, and the CII Tamil Nadu State Council (2025–26). 

He plays an active role in shaping the agri and entrepreneurship ecosystem through sustained engagement with universities, startup and entrepreneur incubation cells, and sectoral forums.  

His roles include being a Member of the Governing Council at IIT Madras Research Park, Domain Expert Mentor at the IIT-Madras Incubation Cell, and a Member of the Advisory Board of Welingkar Institute’s Rural Management Program. 

Recognised for his entrepreneurial vision and impact, Anil has received several honours, including being part of the MB100 2025 Cohort, the FAIM Triple A Leadership Award (2025), ASK Hurun Future Unicorn Award (2024), CII Exemplary Entrepreneur Award (2024), ET Social Enterprise Startup Award (2020), TiE Scale-Up Enterprise of the Year (2019), and the Global Social Entrepreneurship Programme (2018). 

A defining aspect of Anil’s leadership is his deep-rooted commitment to inner transformation. A practitioner and certified trainer of Heartfulness since 1993, he brings a values-based leadership style that is grounded, empathetic, and inclusive. This reflective approach enables him to stay attuned to the needs of the communities Samunnati serves, while guiding the organisation with clarity and purpose.
