Equipped with proficient functional knowledge, project commissioning, Business Development, heading P&L, Planning & Budgeting and Sustainability.

A passionate professional for environment and sustainability, where he has worked in many hard to abet industries for which he has contributed significantly towards sustainability. Keen interest in turnaround of businesses with sustainability focus, leadership development.

During his tenure at UltraTech Cement Co, ltd as sustainability head, company has signed EP-100, conducted Bio- diversity studies and implemented management plans, Started journey towards water positivity.  Conducted water table study with help of ICRISAT and started projects on water shed management at two of most water critical plant location in coordination with NABARD. Also played crucial role in GCCA (Global cement and Concrete association) formulation and drafting the charter for the association along with global cement industry partners

Under his leadership as CSO, Grasim Industries, flagship company of Aditya Birla Group has seen significant transformation in its ESG journey and has been recognised for the same by various rating agencies, financial institutions and investor communities. Surya was instrumental in Grasim’s Sustainability Linked Loan from International Finance Corporation (IFC).
