A National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal, and Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, graduate, Pankaj Goel is a seasoned tech and corporate leader and is currently serving BharatPe, one of India’s leading fintech companies, as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In his current role, Pankaj is leading the tech team and spearheading the technology and innovation strategy across BharatPe Group, in order to drive technological advancements that align with the company’s mission to empower millions of offline retailers and kirana store owners across the country.
A tech wizard, Pankaj has nearly three decades of experience in technology and engineering roles, developing and managing software products for different groups of consumers, including small businesses and large enterprises. In these years, he has been associated with many prestigious organisations and led the development of large-scale online products and services, including mobile and desktop applications. He has helped the companies expand their consumer base and accomplish their desired growth figures.
An accomplished technologist, Pankaj has an illustrious track record of driving digital transformations, building scalable platforms, and spearheading technological innovations. His expertise lies in leveraging cutting-edge technologies to solve complex business challenges. During his three decades of career, Pankaj has demonstrated a remarkable ability to build and manage technology functions at scale, catering to consumers, as well as enterprises of varied sizes. He holds unusual proficiency in the fintech domain, where he possesses profound engineering knowledge and significant industry experience.
Prior to joining BharatPe, Pankaj was the Senior Vice President and Head of Payments Engineering at Razorpay. During his last stint at the company, where he spent 4.5 years, Pankaj established a robust engineering organisation that attained incredible growth, leading an expansion from $1 billion to $100 billion in TPV.
He also held several leadership positions at other renowned organisations, including Intuit India, Trilogy, Sun Microsystems USA, Netscape Communications USA, NetGuru USA, and others. He successfully led large-scale tech initiatives, including the development of advanced payment systems, artificial intelligence-based solutions, and cloud-based platforms, and propelled the growth of these companies.
At Intuit India, Pankaj led the development of critical platform capabilities to manage roles & permissions, user management and Login/Identity for QuickBooks Online (QBO) ecosystem, spanning the online and desktop ecosystems, across accounting, payroll and payments domains. At Trilogy, he steered the development of multiple products and services to build a comprehensive product suite, AutoShoppy, to cater to the Indian automotive market with an objective to generate 20,000 car leads by developing partners, delivering 12 million visits every month during the first phase. In similar lines, he facilitated the companies he worked with to excel in technology to serve consumers better and elevate their experience.
