Dr. Lavanya Mundayur is an insurance industry professional with over 33 years of domestic and international experience, currently General Manager and Chief Underwriting Officer overseeing Aviation, Marine and Property LOBs at New India Assurance. She has worked in several leadership roles to turn around operations, build revenue and sustainable growth, bringing to the fore, her business acumen, technical and people skills. A strong advocate of diversity she has proactively taken up challenging assignments with many firsts to her credit.

As CEO of New India’s Dubai office, she was the first female executive to head a GCC operation as also achieve new business milestones. As the only woman board member of UAE insurance industry associations namely, IBG and GIMIC, she worked to make the institutions more effective, interactive and inclusive. In 2023, an Honorary Doctorate was conferred in recognition of her contribution to the insurance industry, by AIMRI, UAE in collaboration with EIU, Paris. Her global exposure also includes IIIP, Singapore, where she headed the specialist marine, aviation and legal claims division encompassing UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia business.

Dr. Mundayur has been an active contributor on panel discussions, workshops, and interviews in India and abroad. As a faculty of Insurance Institutes and the National Insurance Academy she is passionate about coaching and inspiring young participants. A postgraduate in Analytical Chemistry, Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India, Mumbai and Certified Reinsurance specialist from Singapore College of Insurance, she has edited several technical book chapters and newsletters.
