Satoshi Sasaki

Satoshi Sasaki is Deputy Director for the International Labour Organization (ILO) Decent Work Technical Support Team for South Asia and Country Office for India, since August 2018. He has worked for the ILO for over 25 years progressing through specialized technical areas i.e. sustainable enterprise development, entrepreneurship, local economic development and crisis response. His key contributions were made to the job creation for laid‐off workers from State Owned Enterprises and the development of the first National Employment Policy in China in early 2000s’, Youth employment development and livelihoods recovery from natural disasters in the Pacific Island Countries in the middle of 2010s’. Currently, he is responsible for managing the ILO’s Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP) in India.
He has extensive experience working for Government, International Technical Agencies, and the UN. Apart from working in his home country of Japan, he has worked in various countries in Asia and the Pacific, including Solomon Islands, the Philippines, Bangladesh, China, Thailand, and Fiji.
Mr Sasaki obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from the College of Liberal Arts, International Christian University in Tokyo, before attaining a Master of Science in Economics (Social Development Planning & Management) from the University of Wales, Swansea in UK. He currently resides in New Delhi with his wife and son.
