He is a 1986 batch officer of ‘Indian Railway Service of Engineers’ (IRSE).
He completed his B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from MNIT, Jaipur (1980-85) and M.Tech. in ‘Environmental Engineering’ from University of Roorkee (now IIT, Roorkee) (1986-88).
DFCCIL, a PSU of Ministry of Railways, is entrusted with one of the biggest rail infrastructure project of Govt. of India costing above Rs.1 lakh crore. Commissioning of this project is going to be a big game changer in nation’s freight transportation. The project has picked up momentum after Shri Jain has taken over as its Managing Director.
In a short period of around three years since he took over as MD, he has successfully commissioned more than 96% of DFCs, i.e., more than 2700 kms of double line BG electrified with automatic signaling has become operational.
While working as Divisional Railway Manager, Samastipur (East Central Railway) during 2017-19, his tenure is remembered for popularizing Mithila paintings on Madhubani Station and also on Bihar Sampark Kranti train. This station, which was in bottom-most of cleanliness ranking, emerged as 3rd cleanest station in IR. He received special appreciation at Minister’s level for this incredible work.
He was also adjudged as ‘Outstanding DRM’ in 2018 for manning large number of unmanned LCs in a very short time-bound schedule for improving safety.
While working as Executive Director, Civil Engineering/Planning, Ministry of Railways (2019-20), he worked for improving axle load on tracks to 25T and on introduction of various new technologies.
He has vast experience of Civil Engineering and Project works. He has worked in different capacities to complete various gauge conversion projects and new line/multi tracking projects in Rajasthan (NWR) and Gujarat (WR) as Dy Chief Engineer. For Surendranagar-Pipavav Port Gauge Conversion-cum- new line, first of SPV project, he has been felicitated with ‘Letter of Appreciation’ by Railway Board. He has also been awarded at various other occasions with ‘General Manager’s Medal’ and also ‘Letter of Appreciation’ for meritorious works.
He also worked as Chairman, Railway Recruitment Board, Ajmer for about two years, where he was part of the team for first time implementing online exams (CBT) by RRBs.
He has also worked as in charge Sr. Divisional Engineer for Mumbai Division, where suburban tracks and structures are maintained. He firstly introduced implosion technology for demolition of old framed structures in Mumbai Division.
He has gained international experience at Tokyo, Kyoto & Osaka (Japan) as Team Leader for studying ‘Track Maintenance Practices’ in Japanese Railways as part of ‘Track Maintenance Group’ of Indian Railways in 2019.
He attended ‘Executive Leadership Programme’ at Bocconi Business School, Milan, Italy in May, 2018. He also attended training programme on ‘International Contracts’ in Tokyo organized by JICA in 2010. He was also part of Indian Railways delegation for study of station designs at Toronto and London in 2006.
