Shashank Sharma is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Sunsure Energy, a leading force in transforming India’s renewable energy landscape. Shashank’s time at IIT-Delhi convinced him that sustainable energy is going to be crucial for the planet’s health. Keeping his serious interest in poetry aside and giving up plans for a sabbatical, Shashank and a small group of like-minded friends laid the foundation of Sunsure in 2014. 

Over the last decade, under his leadership, Sunsure has emerged as one of India’s fastest-growing Commercial & Industrial (C&I) renewable energy firms and the preferred renewable energy solutions provider for businesses in India. Sunsure has operationalized more than 500 MW of renewable energy projects across India and aims to ambitiously expand the company’s capacity to 5 GW by 2028, illustrating his relentless pursuit of growth and excellence.

Shashank’s commendable success at Sunsure is highlighted by significant achievements such as securing $400 million in private equity funding from Partners Group in 2022, underlining the company’s financial strength and market confidence. This accomplishment has positioned Sunsure uniquely as the only renewable energy company built from the ground up by young engineering graduates in a sector predominantly occupied by industry veterans and large corporations.
