The year 2021 marked the launch of ET Edge’s #PlanetBuddy campaign – a movement to establish our commitment to making a pivotal stride toward sustainability. Fast forward to today, this initiative has blossomed into a vibrant movement, sparking a range of impactful activities in its wake, aimed at raising environmental consciousness and furthering Sustainable Development Goals.
Beyond fostering a culture of sustainability, #PlanetBuddy has also highlighted the importance of community engagement and social responsibility, and as a part of this ongoing effort, ET Edge has spotlighted individuals championing grassroots initiatives, all united in the common goal of crafting a sustainable future.
Our #PlanetBuddy portfolio features impactful and engaging initiatives, from distributing saplings to organizing tree plantation drives in collaboration with NGOs and college students, and also spearheading a World Car-Free Day with schoolchildren, all supported by NGOs and the Delhi Traffic Police. These activities are a testament to the power of community-driven action, each one a chapter in the ongoing story of the #PlanetBuddy campaign. Together, they paint a picture of hope, responsibility, and the unwavering belief that we can make a difference, one small step at a time.
World Environment Day 2024 was our call to arms as we took a stand against plastic pollution with an on-ground activation at Lotus Corporate Park. In partnership with ReCircle, recycled plastic bottles were collected and donated, highlighting our commitment to reducing plastic waste. The event featured interviews with participants about their personal efforts in protecting the environment and an interactive wall where pledges to save the planet were captured and preserved for the world to watch. This wall, brimming with commitments, became a powerful visual map of our collective will toward transforming our planet into a plastic-free world.
At the 5th edition of the GSA SDG Summit, creativity met responsibility in a vibrant display of sustainable art. Attendees were given environmentally friendly paints and encouraged to channel their inner environmental artists, crafting pieces that reflected their commitment to the planet. The resulting masterpieces were more than just paintings, they were heartfelt expressions of hope, responsibility, and a shared vision for a sustainable future. The artworks, rich in meaning and emotion, were donated to an NGO, turning the summit into a canvas for both expression and social responsibility, reminding everyone that art has the power to inspire change and that creativity can be a driving force in the fight for a better world.
Building on the interactive success of the previous year’s pledge activity, SO 2023 saw participants once again spinning the wheel of commitment. Each spin brought forth a new promise, a new leaf added to the ever-growing tree of pledges. This year’s tree stood even taller, adorned with a vibrant array of pledges that represented the collective will of the attendees to make a tangible difference. The activity was not just an engaging exercise but a powerful reminder that every small commitment contributes to a larger, greener future. The tree, growing with each pledge, became a living testament to the event’s impact, symbolizing the strength of collective action and the shared goal of sustainability.
#PlanetBuddy collaborated with local school students and Delhi police to drive this change. On September 22, school students went to multiple traffic-laden areas with banners to encourage drivers to opt for walking, cycling, or using public transportation and electric vehicles.
The Connaught Place area of Delhi was filled with students distributing awareness materials to commuters and ‘Thank You’ notes to those who opted for eco-friendly modes of transportation.
#PlanetBuddy collaborated with Delhi schools like Presidium Indirapuram, Union Academy; and institutes like GL Bajaj Institute of Management and Bennett University. Lending Hands Foundation, a social impact organization committed to driving positive change across India, was a key partner in executing this campaign. Delhi Traffic Police also supported this event.
Children are the future of a sustainable tomorrow, and contributing to positive change will help them think critically about environmental challenges and develop creative solutions. The event served as an inspiration for the students, prompting them to actively engage and participate.
The goal of the campaign is to inspire environmental responsibility and innovative problem-solving abilities to confront the challenges ahead. ET Edge’s initiative #PlanetBuddy strives to contribute to a cleaner, healthier planet and help pave the way for sustainable solutions in the future.
