Dr. Sunit Tyagi has a Ph.D. in Electrical, Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, RPI, Troy, NY, USA. His doctoral thesis focused on the development of Indium Phosphide solar cells for space applications. Prior to this, he worked on the development of blue LEDs using Zinc Selenide. He graduated from IIT Bombay in 1984 with a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
He is the Managing Director of InSolare Energy Pvt Ltd, a leading Solar Energy Systems integrations company operating since 2008 the company has helped define the path for solar revolution in India and has grown under his leadership with a focus on Quality, Discipline, and Innovation.
In addition to his role at InSolare, Dr. Tyagi serves as the Chief Technology Officer and Director of igrenEnergi Pvt Ltd, a pioneering company redefining energy conversion and optimization systems. igrenEnergi is launching several products based on a novel architecture patented in the U.S. in 2013, with an immediate focus on solar inverters.
Before founding InSolare, Dr. Tyagi worked at Intel Corporation. From 2005 to 2008, he led the development of Intel’s first microprocessor designed entirely in India. Before moving to lead Intel in India, he spent 14 years at Intel’s Oregon facility from 1991 to 2005, where he played a key role in advancing CMOS technology for integrated circuits, contributing to a 100-fold increase in microprocessor speed.
Dr. Tyagi is a recognized expert in Solar Cells and semiconductor devices and an IEEE EDS Distinguished lecturer. He is also a prolific inventor and researcher, holding over 17 global patents and an equal number of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
